Q1. Will there be any side effects of the Botox treatment?[i]
Like getting a tattoo on your skin or an injection, Botox can cause occasional redness and bumpiness in your skin for a moment. Botox treatment if done correctly will ensure that you do not face any side effects. Now, if you have a particular skin allergy or if you are easily susceptible to rashes, then it’s essential to inform your dermatologist to avoid any complication post-session.
Q2. What are the post-treatment precautions I must take?[ii]
If your skin feels irritable or if there is swelling, then you should apply an ice pack for a few minutes right after the injection to reduce the irritation. It is important not to rub the treatment area and try to avoid exercising as it usually activates their facial muscles and that could cause the Botox to move to the adjacent muscle[iii].
Q3. I have a family wedding to attend in a few days, can I take a Botox injection 3-4 days before the event for a wrinkle-free look?
It takes at least 3-4 days for Botox to show the results. So, if you have a wedding to attend, we recommend that you undergo the treatment a week before the wedding so in case you get rashes or face side-effects, then you have enough time to get it treated from your dermatologist immediately. Anyway, the results of a Botox treatment are visible for up to four months. So, you will still have a wrinkle-free look even after undergoing the treatment a month ago.
Q4. How many injections do I require and how often do I need to attend the sessions?
The number of injections depends on the areas that require the treatment. Your dermatologist can determine the number of sessions only after a detailed analysis. The effect of Botox toxin lasts for 4-6 months. So, to keep that wrinkle-free look constant, you might need a session every 4-6 months. Discuss about your next session with the dermatologist and ensure that you attend them regularly for best results.
